Harry Kane finally broke his duck as Tottenham came from behind to thrash Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
City opened the scoring midway through the first half when Yaya Toure powered through the middle of the park before releasing Kevin De Bruyne who fired low past Hugo Lloris for 0-1 – although replays showed the Belgian was marginally offside.
Spurs then equalised on the stroke of half-time and it was another controversial call as Eric Dier found the bottom corner from the edge of the box but Kyle Walker was well offside in the build up to the goal.
The hosts then took the lead shortly after the restart when Toby Alderweireld headed home from a free-kick for 2-1 with City keeper Willy Caballero stuck in no-mans-land.
Spurs then extended their lead to 3-1 and it was yet another contentious call as Kane was on hand to score in to an empty net after Christian Eriksen’s free-kick came back off the bar, but once again replays showed the striker was just offside.
City’s misery was compounded when Erik Lamela kept his composed to score a fourth in the 78th minute to move Spurs up to fifth in the Premier League table.
