Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has taken to Instagram to offer a positive injury update to his Chelsea fans as he continues to overcome a knee injury.
Courtois hasn’t played for Chelsea since the defeat by Crystal Palace in late August and was ruled out for at least four months after damaging knee ligaments in training.
The Belgian international has been keeping his followers updated on his recovery with regular posts on social media sites and he’s given fans two further updates over the past 24 hours.
The 23-year-old first posted photos of himself taking part in physiotherapy at Chelsea’s Cobham training facility and working in a hydrotherapy pool – which allows him to run underwater, stopping him from putting weight on his injured muscles and ligaments.
Courtois included a message that said:
“Another good day at rehabilitation today! #workhard #comebackstronger. Starting a next step of rehabilitation in the swimming pool.”
The keeper then uploaded a video of himself this evening walking in an anti-gravity treadmill as he continues to step-up his rehabilitation programme.
Asmir Begovic has deputised in goal during Courtois absence and will continue to do so over the coming weeks but he’s conceded eight times in just four games so Jose Mourinho will be desperate for his number one to return to action as soon as possible.
The defending Premier League champions have won just once in the league since Courtois was ruled out and now sit 16th in the table, a full ten points adrift of leaders Manchester City.
