Arsene Wenger has suggested that David Ospina, Mohamed Elneny and Danny Welbeck will start tomorrow’s FA Cup fifth round clash against Hull City.
We welcome the 2014 finalists to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon and the boss has confirmed that although he plans to play a strong side, there will be changes from the eleven that beat Leicester City last weekend.
Petr Cech is set to be handed a well-earned rest with David Ospina a confirmed starter in goal as Wenger says the Colombian international will feature in all our FA Cup games this season.
We are set to get another glimpse of Mohamed Elneny with the boss confirming the Egyptian international will get game-time against Hull and may even be handed his second start following his move from FC Basel last month.
Elneny made an encouraging debut during our win over Burnley in the last round and is now set to get another chance to impress tomorrow afternoon.
Wenger also revealed that Danny Welbeck could be handed his first start in over 10 months after coming off the bench to score a dramatic winner against Leicester last weekend.
Here is what the boss told Arsenal.com:
on if Welbeck will play…
I might start him. I haven’t completely decided yet. It crosses my mind to start him.
on whether he will rest Cech…
Petr Cech it is possible yes, because Ospina plays in the FA Cup and [Cech] will not be involved.
on if Elneny could play…
Elneny is fit. He is one of the players who could get a run [out] there. He’s mobile, he’s a very good player. He’s adapting at the moment and I think he’s there now. We’ll certainly see him against Hull. He has a chance to start.
It makes sense to rest Cech and I think we’ll certainly see Elneny given a start too but I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d love to see Welbeck given a start tomorrow. He’s worked hard to get himself fit after such a long time out and made a dream return last week, so hopefully he’ll be given the nod against Hull.
With Barcelona coming to the Emirates on Tuesday, we need to rest our key men so I expect Wenger to make plenty of changes this weekend.
