Manchester United have told Palmeiras that they’ll submit a formal £32m bid for Manchester City target Gabriel Jesus within the next 24 hours
The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are hoping to hijack Man City’s move for Gabriel Jesus….
Manchester United have told Palmeiras that they’ll submit a formal £31.7m bid for Manchester City target Gabriel Jesus within the next 24 hours, according to reports in Brazil via the Manchester Evening News.
Jesus broke in to the Palmeiras first team at the start of 2015 and has become one of the hottest young talents in Brazilian football after racking up 26 goals in his 67 appearances for the Campeonato Brasileiro outfit.
The 19-year-old’s potential has caught the attention of Manchester City with TeamTalk quoting the strikers agent as saying they are in advanced negotiations with the Citizens over a possible £26.8m move to the Etihad this summer.
However, there could still be a late twist as the MEN are citing reports coming from Globoesporte that claim Man Utd are looking to make a late attempt to hijack City’s proposed deal for the talented forward.
The Brazilian outlet suggests that United have already made contact with Palmeiras and informed the club that they’ll submit a formal £31.7m (€38m) offer for Jesus within the next 24 hours.
The news will come as a concern to Pep Guardiola as the Spanish coach is understood to be desperate to take the striker to City as he continues to rebuild the squad he inherited from Manuel Pellegrini.
We’ll have to wait and see whether this reported bid from United is made but Jesus would be another exciting signing for the Reds Devils if they could win the race for his signature and he’d become Jose Mourinho’s fourth new addition of the summer following the arrivals of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Jesus is currently with the Brazil squad ahead of the Rio Olympics so he wouldn’t be available for the start of the new season but the MEN suggest that any deal with United or City could see the teenager head back to Palmeiras on loan for another year, so he might not be seen as a first team regular just yet.
