Man Utd Team News: Mourinho Confirms Triple Injury Boost Ahead Of Man City Clash
Jose Mourinho has confirmed a triple injury boost after providing a team news update ahead of Manchester United’s huge clash with Manchester City.
Manchester United will look to continue their 100% start to the new Premier League season when they take on Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s given ManUtd.com a team news and injury update.
The Red Devils boss was pleased to confirm that his squad have no injury problems to contend with and all his players are fit and available for selection to face their Manchester rivals tomorrow.
It means Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been passed fit despite returning home early from international duty after suffering a thigh injury playing for Armenia against the Czech Republic last week.
However, it looks like Mkhitaryan may only be named among the substitutes tomorrow as Mourinho has suggested that the attacker is not ready to play the entire ninety minutes.
Luke Shaw was another injury doubt for the derby after picking a minor knock while away with the England team during the international break but the full-back has also been passed fit to face City this weekend.
In a triple boost, it looks like Antonio Valencia is also available despite arriving back late from his long-haul trip to South America so the Ecuadorian international should retain his place at right-back.
Mourinho told the clubs website:
“I’m not saying Micki is ready to play 90 minutes but he is ready to help us,”
“There are no injuries. Everybody is available. It’s not the same as if we were here all week and working, resting and not travelling, but there are no injuries and everybody has returned safely and on time for at least one training session. Everybody is ready and wants to play of course.”
United head in to the City game boasting a 100% start to the season after recording victories over Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City but the opposition have also collected nine points from their opening three games so something has to give tomorrow.
