Man Utd Dealt Fresh Injury Blow: Attacker Ruled Out For 3 Games
Manchester United have been dealt a fresh injury blow with Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to miss the next three games with a niggling thigh injury
Manchester United have been dealt a fresh injury blow with Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to miss the next three games with a niggling thigh injury, according to the Times.
Mkhitaryan initially injured his left thigh while playing in Armenia’s 3-0 friendly defeat against the Czech Republic during the international break earlier this month following a clash with Marek Suchy in the middle of the park.
The 27-year-old flew back to Manchester early to undergo treatment and was subsequently considered as a major doubt for United’s derby match against Manchester City last weekend.
However, despite concerns over his fitness, Mkhitaryan was surprisingly passed fit and handed his first start under Jose Mourinho following his move from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The attacker failed to make an impression on the game at Old Trafford and was hauled off at half-time with Ander Herrera coming on to place him as United slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to their local rivals.
However, it seems Mkhitaryan may have been carrying an injury as the Times claim he aggravated his thigh problem during the opening 45 minutes against City on Saturday afternoon.
The newspaper says the Armenian is now expected to be out for the next 10 days meaning he’ll miss Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Feyenoord, Sunday’s Premier League trip to Watford and next week’s EFL Cup match with Northampton Town.
This latest injury setback only heightens what has been a frustrating start to life in England for Mkhitaryan as he’s struggled to break in to Mourinho’s starting eleven while there have also been reports suggesting he’s not happy with where he’s being played by the United boss.
