Man Utd Have Fresh Injury Doubt For Watford Clash But Quartet Set To Return
Manchester United have a fresh injury doubt for their trip to Watford on Sunday but four first team regulars are set to return to action
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is a doubt for their trip to Watford on Sunday but four first team regulars are set to return to action, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Bailly once again started in the middle of defence for United’s Europa League group stage opener against Feyenoord on Thursday night but was involved in a heavy collision during the first half in Rotterdam.
The 22-year-old required treatment on the pitch and although he was seen limping for several minutes after the incident, the defender was able to continue and complete the full ninety minutes as United crashed to a disappointing 1-0 defeat.
The Manchester Evening News claim that the Ivory Coast international is expected to be assessed by United’s medical team at Carrington this afternoon before a decision is made about his availability for the trip to Vicarage Road on Sunday.
It would be a huge blow for Jose Mourinho if Bailly was ruled out as the defender has already become a key part of the United starting eleven with the Ivorian one of only two players who’ve played every minute of the season so far.
Daley Blind was left out of the squad against Feyenoord last night but the Dutch international is expected to return to the side on Sunday and if Bailly is ruled out then Chris Smalling should keep his place in the back four.
Mourinho is set to make several changes to his starting eleven for the Watford game with Wayne Rooney, Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia also expected to get recalls after being rested in Europe on Thursday night.
However, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been ruled out with a thigh injury while the unfortunate Phil Jones is set for another month on the treatment table after suffering a knee ligament injury.
