[Video Highlights] Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham: Mkhitaryan Boosts Utd’s Top 4 Hopes

Manchester United gave their top four hopes a major boost with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford this afternoon.

United started brightly and almost opened the scoring in the 2nd minute when Hugo Lloris produced an excellent save to deny Paul Pogba’s effort which was heading for the bottom corner.

David De Gea was then called in to action at the other end as the United keeper did well to keep out Christian Eriksen’s quick free-kick in the 19th minute.

The hosts then opened the scoring midway through the first half as Ander Herrera pounced on a loose pass from Harry Kane and the Spanish midfielder released Henrikh Mkhitaryan who raced clear to fire home his first goal at Old Trafford in the 29th minute.

Spurs attacker Heung-min Son forced De Gea in to another decent save before Pogba rattled the crossbar with a superb free-kick and then saw another effort well saved by Lloris to keep the score at 1-0.

However, there was to be no further goals so United edged it 1-0 which sees them close the gap on fifth-placed Spurs to just three points while fourth-placed Manchester City are a further three points ahead.
