Man Utd Team News: Mourinho Offers Positive Update Ahead Of Stoke Clash
Jose Mourinho has offered a positive team news and injury update ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Stoke at the Britannia tomorrow.
Manchester United will be looking to close the gap on the top four with a win when they take on Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given ManUtd.com a team news and injury update.
The Portuguese coach was pleased to confirm that his squad suffered no fresh injury concerns following last weekend’s 1-1 draw with north-west rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Marcos Rojo made a successful return to the starting eleven against the Merseysiders last time out having recovered from a minor knock which had kept him out of the EFL Cup semi final first leg win over Hull City the previous week.
The Argentinean international came through the full ninety minutes unscathed against Liverpool so will be hoping to continue his fine partnership alongside Phil Jones against Stoke this weekend.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic also returned to the starting eleven last week and scored the equaliser after missing the Hull clash through illness so the Swedish international is expected to once again lead the line up front at the Britannia tomorrow.
Mourinho says his squad have a few minor knocks to contend with which is perfectly normal while Eric Bailly is unavailable due to his participation at the African Cup of Nations, but with no serious injury worries the ‘Special One’ has virtually a fully fit squad to choose from against Stoke.
He told the clubs website:
“We are fine. We have little problems, which is normal, but not [they are not] big issues. We have a very good situation.”
United head to the Britannia off the back of an impressive unbeaten run stretching back 17 games in all competitions with the clubs last defeat coming against Fenerbahce in November.
