Man Utd vs Wigan Preview, Team News, Line-Up, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Man Utd take on Wigan in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday. Here is a preview with team news, line-up, betting tips and predicted score.
Manchester United will be looking to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup when they take on Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils head in to the game off the back of a 2-1 defeat at Hull City on Thursday night but they still booked their place in the EFL Cup final thanks to a 3-2 aggregate victory.
Despite Jose Mourinho suggesting the game finished 1-1 [due to his disgust at Hull being awarded a fortunate penalty], it was United’s first defeat in 18 games in all competitions so the Portuguese coach will be keen to get back to winning ways tomorrow.
The Manchester giants will face a Wigan side who sit in the bottom three of the Championship table so they’ll be hoping to secure a morale-boosting result at Old Trafford in the hope it could turn their season around.
Team news
Mourinho is expected to make plenty of changes from the side that lost at Hull with the Reds boss already confirming that Sergio Romero will come in for the rested David De Gea in goal.
Anthony Martial is also set to be given a chance to get himself back in favour after being axed from the last two squads while the likes of Luke Shaw, Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney should also get recalls.
Eric Bailly is on his way back from the African Cup of Nations but he’s unlikely to feature just yet and Mourinho has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Wigan are likely to be without Yanic Wildschut as he’s struggling with a hamstring injury while new signing Jamie Hanson is cup-tied.
Reece James, Alex Gilbey and Andy Kellett are all pushing for starts after featuring for the U21’s in midweek.
Likely Line-Up
Predicted Score
Man Utd 3-0 Wigan: United were disappointing at Hull but they should be an entirely different prospect against Wigan on home soil. Despite making wholesale changes, Mourinho is still able to field a team full of quality so I fancy United to ease in to the next round with a 3-0 win.
