Arsenal To Battle Man Utd Over £85m Star, Gunners Prepared To Offer £250k-A-Week
Arsenal are ready to battle-it-out with Manchester United over the £85million signing of Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann this summer
Managers are now planning late moves in the winter window as well as planning ahead for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Man Utd are linked with Antoine Griezmann….
Arsenal are ready to battle-it-out with Manchester United over the £85million signing of Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Griezmann has developed in to a top class striker since joining Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014 and was recently voted the third best player in the world behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The French international was also named as the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016 and has netted 71 goals and provided a further 20 assists for his Atletico team mates in his 135 appearances so far.
Understandably his incredible form has attracted plenty of interest and the Daily Mail claim that Arsenal are ready to go head-to-head with Manchester United over Griezmann’s signature this summer.
The newspaper says that the Gunners failed with an approach to sign the 25-year-old last year and were told by Atletico that any future deal would cost the full value of Griezmann’s £85m buyout clause – which was inserted in to the deal he signed last summer.
That sort of money is over double Arsenal’s current record transfer fee so it would be a huge statement if the north Londoners were prepared to splash out £85m on one player, but the Daily Mail appear to suggest they are ready to do just that as well as offer Griezmann a deal worth at least £250,000-a-week.
The news may come as a concern to United as they’ve been strongly linked with the Frenchman in recent months but the report states that the Manchester giants believe they are still in pole position to land Griezmann.
United have the financial muscle to top any wage offer that Arsenal put on the table while they will also hope Griezmann’s close friendship with Paul Pogba will help sway any decision in their favour.
Obviously Griezmann would be a sensational signing for either Arsenal or United if they could somehow pull it off and I’d love to see a player of his caliber come to the Premier League.

He’d be the ideal long-term replacement at United for the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney while he’d also fit in well at an attack-minded team like Arsenal – although Gunners fans will be concerned that Griezmann may only be viewed as a potential replacement for contract rebel Alexis Sanchez.
