Man Utd take on Watford at Vicarage Road this evening. Here is a preview with the latest team news, line-ups and prediction
Premier League football returns after the international break as Manchester United take on high-flying Watford at Vicarage Road this evening.
The Red Devils have endured a disappointing start to the new campaign as after narrowly beating Leicester City on the opening weekend, they slumped to poor defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur before getting back to winning ways at Burnley last time out.
It leaves United sitting in tenth position in the table on six points from their four games so far so manager Jose Mourinho will be desperate to climb up the division with another win at Vicarage Road this evening.
However, that won’t be easy against an in-form Watford side who are joint top of the Premier League with Liverpool and Chelsea after taking a maximum 12 points from their four matches so far this campaign.
Team news
United will be without Marcus Rashford as he starts a three-match suspension following his sending off at Burnley while Marouane Fellaini will be handed a late fitness test after picking up a knock on international duty.
Ander Herrera is also carrying an ankle problem that he sustained in training last week, Phil Jones is still nursing a hamstring injury while Marcos Rojo remains out after limping out of the U23 clash with Reading last night.
Luke Shaw wasn’t spotted among the squad that travelled south from Manchester on Friday so it looks like Mourinho has decided to give the left-back more time to recover after he was concussed while playing for England last week.
Watford have no fresh injury worries to contend with but Gerard Deulofeu remains out with a groin injury while Tom Cleverley is still working his way back to fitness from a long-term Achilles injury.
Expected line-ups
Predicted score
Watford 1-2 Man Utd: Watford are flying right now but they have a poor record against United as the Red Devils have won 12 of their last 13 league meetings. Mourinho has an excellent record against the Hornets too as the Portuguese coach has won five of his six encounters. I do think Watford will make it a tough game but have a feeling United will edge it 2-1.
