It’s mixed news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United’s 20-man squad was revealed ahead of their trip to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
It’s mixed news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United’s 20-man squad was revealed ahead of their trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils head to Wembley tomorrow looking to extend their five-game winning run under new boss Solskjaer but they’ll face a tough Tottenham side who sit third in the Premier League table.
United have been boosted with the news that Paul Pogba was in the squad that travelled to London this afternoon after recovering from a minor knee problem that he picked up against Newcastle United earlier this month.
The French international missed United’s FA Cup win over Reading last weekend and linked-up late with the rest of the squad for their warm weather training camp in Dubai.
However, Pogba was able to take part in training last week and has now been named in Solskjaer’s travelling squad ahead of the game tomorrow, so should be in contention to start against Tottenham.
James Garner has also been named in the provisional squad after not featuring for the U23’s on Friday night during their 3-1 defeat to Fulham but fellow youngsters Andre Gomes, Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood have missed out.
United will have to make-do without Alexis Sanchez as the Chilean international wasn’t spotted among the travelling party that left Manchester today after picking up a hamstring injury against Reading last week.
Sanchez is set to miss out against Spurs along with Chris Smalling as the defender is still working his way back from a foot injury while Marcos Rojo is back in Argentina recovering from his own injury problem.
Solskjaer appears to have left Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian and Marouane Fellaini out of his squad to face Tottenham as none of the trio were seen among the squad that departed Manchester train station today.
Eric Bailly also misses out as the Ivory Coast international will serve the final game of his three-match ban so Phil Jones is expected to start alongside Victor Lindelof at the back.
This is the Man Utd squad according to the Manchester Evening News:
Goalkeepers: De Gea, Romero, Grant
Defenders: Lindelof, Jones, Young, Dalot, Shaw
Midfielders: Pereira, Mata, Matic, Pogba, Fred, Herrera, McTominay, Lingard, Garner
Forwards: Martial, Rashford, Lukaku
