“Not human” – Some fans drool over Man Utd star after “10/10” display vs Tottenham
Fans have been heaping praise on David De Gea following his world class performance during Man Utd’s 1-0 win over Tottenham at Wembley this evening.
Fans and pundits have been heaping praise on David De Gea following his world class performance during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley this evening.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went in to the match looking to maintain his perfect record having won all five of his matches in all competitions since replacing Jose Mourinho as United manager last month.
The Norwegian coach set-up his team perfectly in the first half as United frustrated Tottenham for long periods and hit them with the perfect counter-attack to take the lead shortly before the break. Paul Pogba found Marcus Rashford with a superb pass and the striker drilled past Hugo Lloris for 1-0 in the 44th minute.
United now had a lead to protect as Tottenham pushed for an equaliser in the second half and the hosts created a hat-full of chances, however, they failed to get past the in-form De Gea between the United sticks.
The Spanish international was outstanding as he made a number of sensational saves to deny Spurs and thwart the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli during the second half as United held on to secure a 1-0 win.
Overall, De Gea made 11 saves in the game – the most by any goalkeeper in the Premier League this season – and understandably he’s been receiving plenty of praise from fans and pundits alike on social media.
Supporters have labelled De Gea as ‘not human’, ‘incredible’ and ‘amazing’ while many described him as the best goalkeeper in the world following his performance against Tottenham today.
Some journalists said it was the best goalkeeping performance they’d ever seen in the flesh while Matt Law from the Telegraph gave the United star a rare 10/10 for his display.

David De Gea made more saves in the second half than any keeper has made in an entirety of a game this season. Best in the world.

One of the rare occasions I've given a goalkeeper a 10 in my match ratings today. David De Gea was out of this world. Does any goalkeeper save as many shots with their feet?

Sensational win for United. Whole squad went over to the away fans. Solskjaer emerged from the throng to whip up the support. It's becoming a ritual. Some genuinely gutsy performances today. De Gea is a freak of a goalkeeper. #mufc
