Key man returns as Guardiola makes 2 changes | Expected Man City line-up vs Watford
Manchester City will look to complete the domestic treble when they take on Watford in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday evening.
City head into the game as the heavy 1.23 odds-on favourites with MustardBet but Pep Guardiola isn’t expected to take anything for granted and is set to field his strongest line-up for the Wembley show piece event.
Ederson has proven to be an excellent signing for City and the Brazilian international will keep his place in goal against Watford tomorrow. I don’t think we’ll see too many changes in defence either as Guardiola is expected to stick with the back four that started during the 4-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Vincent Kompany should captain the side out once again with Aymeric Laporte alongside the Belgian international. That means John Stones will have to make do with a place on the bench. Kyle Walker should start at right-back while Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to keep his place at left-back as Benjamin Mendy has been ruled out with a knee injury.
Fernandinho return
Fernandinho has missed the last three league games with a knee problem but the Brazilian midfielder is back in full training so he could be restored in the holding role for Man City tomorrow which would be a huge boost for Guardiola.
Kevin De Bruyne is also pushing for a recall after returning to full fitness so Ilkay Gundogan may drop to the bench despite scoring a superb goal against Brighton last week. David Silva should keep his place in the middle of the park.
Raheem Sterling has enjoyed a superb campaign and the England international is expected to start in attack while Bernardo Silva should also keep his place after a sensational season for Man City.
Riyad Mahrez may therefore have to settle for a place among the substitutes along with Leroy Sane while Gabriel Jesus will be on the bench as Sergio Aguero is set to lead the line up front.
Here is how we think City will line-up:
