Man Utd reveal squad for AZ Alkmaar: Fresh blow confirmed as 5 players ruled out

Manchester United have revealed their travelling squad for Thursday night’s Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar and Paul Pogba has been ruled out of the trip to Holland.
The midfielder recently made his return to action after picking up an ankle injury against Southampton at the end of August but aggravated the issue during last week’s Carabao Cup clash with Rochdale.
Pogba was rushed back to start during Monday night’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal but once again the Frenchman aggravated his ankle injury and Man Utd have now confirmed the midfielder needs a ‘period of rest’ to finally overcome the problem.
Therefore, Pogba wasn’t in the squad that flew out of Manchester Airport this morning ahead of tomorrow’s match in Hague and he’ll be considered as a major doubt for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle United.
Anthony Martial will also miss the AZ Alkmaar game on Thursday as he’s still recovering from a thigh injury that’s kept him out of the last five matches while Luke Shaw is also still on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.
Phil Jones hasn’t made the trip to Holland after picking up a knock during the win over Astana in Man Utd’s opening Europa League group stage game while Aaron Wan-Bissaka misses out due to tonsillitis.
So Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be without five of his first team players tomorrow, however, there is some positive news for the United boss as Diogo Dalot and Angel Gomes are back in contention after recovering from knocks.
Young full-back Brandon Williams has also been included in the 21-man squad after making his senior debut recently while youngsters James Garner, Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood could also feature against AZ tomorrow.
Here is the 21-man as confirmed on ManUtd.com:
David De Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant; Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Axel Tuanzebe, Marcos Rojo, Brandon Williams; Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Fred, James Garner, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Angel Gomes, Daniel James; Tahith Chong, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood.
