FA Cup
[Pics and Highlights] Gaga over Yaya: Manchester City 1-0 Manchester United
It started out with Manchester United domination, only to fall apart as time proceeded at Wembley, with Manchester City winning the battle between the two Manchester clubs.
It was Manchester City’s midfield engine Yaya Toure who gave Manchester City the lead (and the momentum) to win their FA Cup semi final encounter against Manchester United. There will be extra satisfaction for the Eastlands out fit, as now Manchester United officially don’t have a shot at a treble winning season.
After the goal which gave Manchester City the lead, Manchester United went for bolder attacks, giving Manchester City more space on the counter attack, but the goal must be remembered for shocking defending/passing on Manchester United’s part. It was Manchester City’s continued pressing which gave the Red Devils really little space to work with, thus giving victory on the afternoon.
It was an explosion of roars of ecstasy from the blues in Wembley after the goal, with many delighted to have seen their side take the lead on such a momentous occasion. Manchester United struggled to cope with defending the left back position, as City constantly bombarded them on the right.
The red card for Paul Scholes for a high challenge on Zabaleta certainly put the icing on the cake for Manchester City, although it is true that the Englishman seemed like the odd man out in midfield all afternoon for the Red Devils.
To add insult to injury for Red Devils, the coverage showed a forlorn figure of Wayne Rooney throughout the match, the man who is thought to be able to save the game for Manchester United, but instead he was banned for the occasion.
