Fergie – The One United Result I Would Change
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits losing the 1994/95 championship to Blackburn Rovers still hurts and detailed the one game that still haunts him.
United went into the final game of the 1994-95 campaign at West Ham United knowing victory would give them the title if Blackburn failed to win at Liverpool. But the Red Devils could only manage a 1-1 draw handing Blackburn the title.
So when quizzed which game he would change in his 25 years as boss he replied:
“The West Ham game, away, in 1995 when we drew 1-1.
“The referee missed a blatant penalty kick when their defender Tim Breacker punched the ball away. It was unbelievable.
“That was the one game I would change because we really deserved to win that day. It was agony, the mayhem around that goalmouth. It just wasn’t for us. Fate goes different ways sometimes.”
