President: “Tottenham are interested in making £28m offer”
By Football Talk.
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has claimed he would be prepared to let Simon Kjaer and Edinson Cavani join Tottenham, should the Londoners offer £28m for the pair. Spurs have been linked with moves for both Kjaer and Cavani recently and Zamparani has confirmed he too has heard of interest from White Hart Lane and set the fee should they choose to make any bids.
“Tottenham are supposedly interested in making a €35 million (£28m) offer for both players,” the president stated to TMW. “If the side are actually able to make such an offer as this, I will let the two players leave.
“On Cavani, I can confirm that he is interested in joining Inter, but Moratti has never asked me for the player.”
Danish centre-back Kjaer has been linked with moves to both Manchester clubs as well as Tottenham recently and is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising defenders. Uruguay forward Cavani has also been attracting interest after some eye-catching displays for both club and country. Should Spurs decide to try and sign the 23-year-old they may face stiff competition from Champions League holders Inter Milan, a move that Cavani would relish.
‘As a player I have two dreams: to do well at the World Cup and to wear the shirt of Inter Milan,’ the Cavani said. ‘It would be nice to stay in Italy fighting for the Scudetto and the Champions League with the Nerazzurri.
‘I think (Palermo president Maurizio) Zamperini is like a father to me. But our president is also a skilled accountant.
‘From my sale, and perhaps that of Simon Kjaer [who is expected to make his way to England’s top flight with Manchester United the likely destination], he will be collecting a lot of money and that would be a nice gift for him.’
Cavaini went on to express his desire to link up with new Milan boss Rafa Benitez and believes his versatility would be of great benefit, even claiming he wants to become the Wayne Rooney of Inter.
He added: ‘Rafa Benitez? He is a coach who knows how to win and is accustomed to working at prestigious clubs. I think he is a choice in line with the ambition of Inter.’
‘Today I am a striker who can adapt to different roles,” the Uruguayan said. ‘Put it this way, I would like to become the Wayne Rooney of Inter Milan. I want to be a striker who can play many roles.’
