Man Utd vs Aston Villa: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Manchester United welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford on Sunday looking to get back to winning ways. Here is team news, likely line-ups and predicted score.
Manchester United will look to bounce back from Wednesday’s slip up against Wigan as they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford on Sunday.
United ended a run of seven straight wins with a 1-0 loss at the DW Stadium in midweek, which blew the title race wide open again after City moved to within five points with a 4-0 win over West Brom.
City play Norwich on Saturday so by the time United play on Sunday, their title-rivals could be within two points of the league leaders. However, whatever City’s result is, Sir Alex Ferguson will be demanding victory to get his sides title-challenge back on track.
They welcome struggling Aston Villa who are hovering just above the relegation zone in 15th place, and have won just one of their last 10 league games.
Team news
Fergie is once again able to call upon Nani after the Portuguese winger came off the bench against Wigan after missing the last five weeks through injury.
Paul Scholes will return after being rested on Wednesday and the United boss will continue to be without long-term injury victims Anderson, Darren Fletcher, Michael Owen and Nemanja Vidic.
Alex McLeish is sweating on the fitness of Stephen Warnock ahead of the game, with the defender struggling with an ankle problem. Chris Herd is also a doubt after picking up a head injury against Stoke, but both are expected to be fit.
Marc Albrighton is likely to miss out with a thigh problem while striker Darren Bent is out for the season.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted score
It’s rare you’ll see a team managed by Sir Alex Ferguson slip up twice in a row. The fiery Scot will simply not allow his side to put in another abject performance and we predict Villa to be on the wrong side of a United backlash. Man Utd 3-0 Aston Villa.
