Liverpool vs WBA: Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Liverpool welcome former manager Roy Hodgson and his West Brom side to Anfield on Sunday. Here’s team news, likely line-ups and predicted score for the game.
Liverpool welcome former manager Roy Hodgson and his West Brom side to Anfield on Sunday, looking to improve upon their disappointing league record.
Hodgson was sacked as Reds boss in January 2011 but a win at Anfield on Sunday will take his WBA team to within a point of his former side in the league table, and they will be boosted by the fact Liverpool have only picked up one win at home in 2012.
Kenny Dalglish is asking his players to put the FA Cup final to the back of their minds and focus on a strong finish in the league, with the Reds currently in a disappointing 8th position in the table.
Team news
Liverpool are able to welcome back goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who has completed his three-match ban, meaning Brad Jones returns to the bench.
Kenny Dalglish may take the opportunity to rotate his midfield, with Craig Bellamy, Stewart Downing, Maxi Rodriguez and Dirk Kuyt all pushing for a place in the starting eleven.
Jamie Carragher is expected to make way at the back with Jose Enrique likely to return at left back. Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez are expected to continue their partnership up front together.
Zoltan Gera, Marc-Antoine Fortune and James Morrison are both struggling to be fit for the Baggies. However, Jonas Olsson is expected to return after missing last weeks win over QPR.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
West Brom have won two of their last three games so arrive at Anfield in good form. However, the Baggies have very little left to play for this season having secured their place in the Premier League next season. Liverpool players on the other hand are playing for their place in Kenny Dalglish’s FA Cup final starting line-up, so that added motivation should see the Reds past a stubborn WBA side. Liverpool 2-1 WBA.
