Papiss Cisse has ruled out leaving Newcastle United this summer despite reports linking him with a move to Manchester United and Manchester City, according to the Sun.
The 27-year-old moved to Tyneside in January from Freiburg and had an impressive start to life in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals in 14 games to fire Newcastle to a fifth place finish and narrowly miss out on champions league qualification.
This form has alerted some of Europe’s top clubs and the Sun claim that the striker is being coveted by both Man Utd and Man City this summer, while Real Madrid are also thought to be monitoring his situation.
However, the Senegal hitman has insisted he is happy with the Geordies and want’s to remain with Alan Pardew’s side for the foreseeable future. Quoted in the Sun, the striker said:
‘I am very happy in Newcastle and I want to stay there for many years.
‘We were close to a Champions League position so next season hopefully we will qualify for that and everyone will taste the Champions League.
‘I am looking forward to next season.’
FT Verdict
Clubs such as Man Utd and Man City were always going to sit up and take notice after Cisse made such an impressive impact in the Premier League, but it seems the player is happy to remain with Newcastle.

Of course things can change very quickly in football, and as is the case these days; money talks. Newcastle (Mike Ashley) would find it difficult to turn down a sizeable offer and turn a quick profit while Cisse wouldn’t be the first player to have a change of heart once a big-money offer from a top club comes in. However, i’d still expect him to be at Newcastle for at least another season.
