Man Utd vs Cluj Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Manchester United welcome FC Cluj to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. Here is a preview with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score for the big game.
Manchester United welcome FC Cluj to Old Trafford on Wednesday night for their final Champions League Group H encounter.
United have already secured qualification to the knockout stages as group winners so boss Sir Alex Ferguson is set to take the opportunity to rotate his side.
The likes of Robin van Persie, Michael Carrick, Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand are expected to be rested but Ferguson has confirmed Wayne Rooney will definitely start as he bids to return to full match fitness.
Cluj will be no push-overs though as the Transylvanians bid to try and reach the last 16 for the first time in the clubs history. They currently sit third – level on points with Galatasaray – and if the Turks fail to in away at Braga, Cluj could snatch second place with a positive result at Old Trafford.
Team News
United captain Nemanja Vidic was pencilled in to return to action following knee surgery but the Serb will be forced to wait after Fergie confirmed he’s still short of match practice.
Javier Hernandez, Ryan Giggs, Danny Welbeck and Darren Fletcher are all likely to get a run-out, while youngsters like Scott Wootton and Nick Powell may also feature at some point.
Cluj will be without Bakary Sare, Ronny, Ciprian Deac and Adam Vass for the trip through injury and ineligibility issues.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
United were made to work for the three points in the reverse fixture, eventually coming out 2-1 victors, but even with a weakened side United should have more than enough to overcome Cluj on home soil. Man Utd 2-0 Cluj
