[OFFICIAL] Arsenal fans are torn over Arsene Wenger
Written by Fab4.
After Arsene Wengers questionable performance in this summers transfer window Arsenal fans all over the world have been having their say, particularly about the fact Le Boss failed to sign a goalkeeper before the 6pm deadline.
I decided to run a poll over the past 2 days asking Gooners if they still had faith in Arsene Wengers judgement and the results were interesting. Only 52% of voters still had faith in Wenger, with 39% saying they no longer backed the boss feeling he was a stingy old fool! 9% were undecided. Think about that, 39% of Gooners don’t think Wenger is making the right calls anymore. It’s worrying.
Of course this poll was conducted just after the close of a relatively disappointing transfer window and their feelings may change throughout the course of the coming weeks, but it’s still interesting. Does this 39% account for the ‘fans’ who boo and moan at home games? Are they the unrealistic ‘championship manager’ who expect Messi, Kaka and Ronaldo to be signed every summer? We will never know.
I have already provided my personal opinion on Arsenal’s transfer activity and received some negative comments for my criticism of Wenger. Having had a couple of days to calm down and reflect, i will have my final say on the subject. I am still of the opinion that Wenger unnecessarily dithered in his pursuit of Schwarzer and if he really wanted him, he should have submitted the £4m bid in june and got the transfer done early doors.
But the situation is what it is…. not ideal. Would i prefer someone other than Almunia to be in goal? Most certainly, but i’m still an Arsenal fan and will support the players that walk out on the pitch every week. I also feel Arsene Wenger is still the man to take the club forward. No other manager could do what he has done and continues to do for the club. BUT, he did make a serious misjudgement by failing to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.
