United & City Face Fight To Land Argentinean Attacker
Manchester United and Manchester City will have to fend off serious competition if they’re to land Roma attacker Erik Lamela this summer, according to reports
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Man Utd and Man City face stiff competition for Erik Lamela.
Manchester United and Manchester City will have to fend off some serious competition if they’re to land Roma attacker Erik Lamela this summer, according to the Express.
The report claims the Manchester duo have been keeping a close eye on the Argentinean ace this season with both Roberto Mancini and Sir Alex Ferguson thought to have sent scouts to rule-the-rule over the 21-year-old ahead of a potential summer move.
However, it appears they’ll have to see off some stiff competition in order to land Lamela with the newspaper suggesting Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have also joined the race to sign the highly-rated young attacker.
Lamela started his career with River Plate before earning a move to Roma in the summer of 2011. After a difficult first season in Italy, the youngster has been hugely impressive in Serie A this campaign scoring 13 goals in 25 appearances so far.
With City well off the pace in the title race, Mancini could be looking to re-shape his squad this summer in order to try and wrestle back the Premier League title that is almost certainly Old Trafford bound this campaign, so a move for Lamela could be on the cards.
United’s reported interest is a little more surprising given the array of attacking talent already available to Sir Alex at Old Trafford, so if he does go for Lamela this summer you’d expect a big name could be on the way out to make room for the talented forward.
