Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has taken the unusual step of naming his starting eleven the day before a game after confirming the eleven players who will take on the Singha All Stars on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blues kick-off their pre-season preparations in Thailand tomorrow for the first game of the Here to Play Here to Stay pre-season tour and it will be Mourinho’s first game in charge since returning to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea face a Singha All Star team that pulled of a shock 1-0 win over champions Manchester United on Saturday, so Mourinho knows his players are in for a stern work out. The Portuguese coach confirmed that his first team will consists of experienced first team players such as Cech, Terry, Cole, Lampard and Essien, while youngsters Piazon, Kalas, Lukaku and De Bruyne will all get a chance to impress.
There will also be debuts for new signings Wallace and Schurrle before Mourinho makes wholesale changes at half time. Here are the teams Mourinho told Chelseafc.com he’ll be playing n Wednesday:
Petr Cech, Wallace, Tomas Kalas, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Lucas Piazon, Kevin De Bruyne, Andre Schurrle, Romelu Lukaku.
The second half side will begin:
Jamal Blackman, Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Chalobah, Ryan Bertrand, Marco van Ginkel, Ramires, Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Demba Ba, Victor Moses.
