[Video’s] Was Wilshere’s Tackle As Bad As Taylor’s On Eduardo?
Written by Fab4.
Let’s get one thing straight, Jack Wilshere’s tackle was a bad one and he deserved his red card. Birmingham manager Alex Mcleish has compared it to Martin Taylor’s tackle on Eduardo at St. Andrews a few years back and says it should now put that challenge to bed and we should move on. His point was that even the most gifted footballers mistime tackles that can cause terrible injuries.
This is a caption of what McLeish had to say:
“It shows that mistimed tackles can be done by even the best players and Zigic was lucky he didn’t suffer a broken leg, there’s no doubt about it.
“Unfortunately for Eduardo a couple of years ago Martin Taylor mistimed a tackle and he’s totally vilified every single time we play Arsenal since and yet Jack’s tackle was a bad one without the same consequences.”
He goes on to say that we should now move on from the Taylor tackle, etc, but i cant find the full quotes or a video unfortunately. Of course he has a point but i don’t think it’s in good taste to bring up the Eduardo incident, given the horrific injury Dudo DID suffer that day and the consequences it has had on his career. I mean, he is and probably never will be the same player again. I just don’t see why he had to bring it up thats all. Wilshere being sent off for a bad tackle certainly doesn’t help Eduardo and I don’t think you can compare Wilshere or Taylor in any way.
Here is Jack’s tackle from yesterday:
Now here is Taylors:
Does Jacks tackle ‘even things out’ now? Have your say below….
