Manchester United take on Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon looking to keep up the momentum and continue to climb up the Premier League table.
The champions have recovered from a disappointing start and are now on a nine-match unbeaten run following a vital 1-0 win over Arsenal before the international break.
That victory saw United move back into title contention and head into the game sitting sixth in the table, but could move up as high as third with a win if other results go their way.
Much of the pre-match talk has centered around the possibility of Ryan Giggs facing his hometown club for the first time in his illustrious career, and with David Moyes having injuries in midfield to deal with the Welshman is expected to feature tomorrow.
However, he will face a Cardiff side that should be full of confidence following their 1-0 win over bitter rivals Swansea last time out at home, while they also stunned Manchester City with a 3-2 win earlier in the season proving they can mix it with the big boys following their promotional last year.
Team News
The hosts have been boosted by the return to fitness of striker Andreas Cornelius who has recovered from an ankle injury, but he’s expected to have to make-do with a place on the bench.
Peter Odemwingie has passed a late fitness test and could start in support of former United striker Frazer Campbell in attack, while Aron Gunnarsson is also available despite suffering a knock while away with Iceland in midweek.
United have been hit with the news that Michael Carrick is out for up to five weeks after having surgery on an Achilles injury. The midfielder is joined by Phil Jones on the sidelines after he picked up a groin injury last time out.
Marouane Fellaini continues to battle a wrist injury but may have to play through the pain due to David Moyes’ midfield injury problems, while Ryan Giggs is in line to face Cardiff for the first time.
Danny Welbeck remains out but Robin van Persie is likely to start despite missing Holland’s double-header with niggling toe and groin injuries.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Wayne Rooney: The forward was superb against Arsenal last time out and will once again be the player the hosts have to keep an eye on this weekend.
