Man Utd Pre-Everton Team News: Moyes Gives Latest Including Update On RVP
Manchester United entertain Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. Here is the latest team news including the latest on the fitness of Robin van Persie
David Moyes is preparing to take on his former side for the first time since leaving Goodison Park in the summer as Manchester United entertain Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.
The champions are back on home soil and looking for a win having been held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon that leaves them sitting nine points adrift of Arsenal.
Ahead of the game, Moyes has been in front of the media giving his pre-match press conference and gave ManUtd.com a team news and injury update with Robin van Persie’s fitness the main talking point.
The Dutchman hasn’t featured since scoring the winner against Arsenal back on the 10th November due to a niggling groin injury, but the United boss has confirmed that the striker is now back in contention to face the Toffees.
He told the clubs official website:
“Robin is okay, he has a chance of playing.”
Nemanja Vidic returned to the starting eleven on Sunday and came through the game unscathed so should be fit enough to retain his place in defence. Rafael was named among the subs against Spurs after recovering from injury and is pushing for a recall, but Chris Smalling is expected to keep his place after some impressive display’s at right-back.
Michael Carrick is the clubs only long-term injury concern, with the midfielder out for at least three more weeks with an ankle injury.
