[Player Ratings] Bayern 1-1 Arsenal: The Ox Excellent But Gunners Lacked Firepower

Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League after a spirited 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arean on Tuesday night, but Bayern Munich ran out 3-1 winners on aggregate.
Here are my player ratings from the game:
Fabianski 7/10
The Pole didn’t put a foot wrong. He made a smart save from Mario Gotze in the first half and could do nothing to prevent Schweinsteiger putting Bayern ahead. Did well to save a late penalty as well.
Sagna 7/10
A solid performance from the Frenchman. Wasn’t able to get forward as much as he might have liked but did well enough against Ribery. Although he could perhaps have done more to stop his compatriot setting up Schweinsteiger.
Mertesacker 7.5/10
A towering performance from the German. Made several vital interceptions with his telescopic legs and won the majority of his aerial duels.
Koscielny 7.5/10
Like his defensive partner, Kos was a rock at the back once again.
Vermaelen 7/10
Played at left-back and equipped himself very well up against the ‘tricky’ Robben.
Arteta 6/10
Disappointing display from Arteta. He looked leggy up against the likes of Thiago and Schweinsteiger. Booked in the first half and walked a tightrope for the rest of the game.
Oxlade-Chamberlain 8.5/10
The Ox was superb, particularly in the first half when he was unplayable at times. He was running at the hosts all game and really stepped up to the mark. Very encouraging stuff.
Cazorla 6/10
Was not at his best at all. His final ball was lacking at times and he wasted a couple of half-decent opportunities.
Podolski 7/10
Quiet in the first half but came to life after the break. Looked dangerous when he saw the ball and scored with a bullet of a shot.
Ozil 5/10
Saw little of the ball before being subbed at half time with a hamstring problem. Looks like he’ll be out for a ‘few weeks’ according to Wenger.
Giroud 5.5/10
Worked hard but he simply didn’t hold the ball up well enough. His touch was off and he just couldn’t get the better of Dante or Martinez. Arsenal needed more from him to bring others into play on the break, but the Frenchman was lacking.
Subs:
Rosicky 7/10 – Saw far more of the ball that Ozil did, and worked hard as always.
Gnabry 5.5/10 – Offered some pace down the right but only really got on the ball once and blazed a shot high and wide.
