Man Utd Set To Table €38m Attacker Bid
Manchester United are set to table a €38m bid for Fiorentina attacker Juan Cuadrado but face competition from Barcelona for the Colombian’s signature.
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd set to table big-money bid.
Manchester United are set to table a €38m bid for Fiorentina attacker Juan Cuadrado but face competition from Barcelona for the Colombian’s signature, according to reports.
Cuadrado has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe after excelling at the World Cup finals, with the player catching the eye in an impressive Colombian side that reached the quarter-final’s before narrowly losing to hosts Brazil.
His displays this summer come off the back of an excellent season with Fiorentina, where the 27-year-old scored 15 goals in 43 appearances to help his side to a fourth-placed finish to qualify for the Europa League.
His performances have understandably led to interest from some of Europe’s top clubs with Man Utd and Barcelona among those who have been strongly linked with a move for the versatile attacker in recent weeks.
Reports earlier this month suggested that Fiorentina are keen for Cuadrado’s future to be resolved soon and the Daily Mail are now citing reports coming out of Spain that claim United are set to step up their interest and test the Italians resolve with a €38m (£30m) bid.
Cuardrado is predominantly a right winger but is also capable of playing as a right-back, so Louis van Gaal may want the player to play as an attacking wing-back in his new 3-5-2 formation at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen how Barcelona will respond should United table an official bid but new boss Luis Enrique has supposedly earmarked the Colombian international as a potential replacement for Dani Alves, so the Catalans could well formalise their interest too.

Should Barca match United’s offer, Fiorentina may find it difficult to turn down bids in the region of €38m, and it would then be down to Cuadrado to decide where he sees his future. Obviously the Spanish giants will provide stiff competition so it would be a major coup if van Gaal could lure the player to Manchester this summer.
