Manchester United will look to make it successive victories for the first time this season when they take on Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils registered only their second win of the season last weekend when they hung on to beat West Ham 2-1 after Wayne Rooney had been sent off midway through the second half.
Louis van Gaal has endured a difficult start to life at Old Trafford but he’ll hope that victory will kick start their campaign and the Dutchman will be desperate to head into the international break on a positive note this weekend.
Everton go into the game off the back of successive 1-1 draws having rescued a last gasp point away at Liverpool last Saturday before following that up with another late leveller at Krasnodar in the Europa League on Thursday night.
While Roberto Martinez will be pleased with the character shown by his side in those games, it does leave the Toffees without a win in their last four games so the Spaniard will be keen for a repeat of last season’s 1-0 win at Old Trafford to get the Merseysiders season going.
Team news
Louis van Gaal must make do without eight first team squad players this weekend. Skipper Wayne Rooney starts a three game ban for his sending off against West Ham last week so Juan Mata is expected to be recalled.
Ander Herrera has been ruled out for three weeks with a rib injury so the Spaniard joins Michael Carrick and Ashley Young on the sidelines.
Marouane Fellaini is back in full training and could make the bench, but the Belgian midfielder is unlikely to start, so Darren Fletcher could come in.
Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans remain out injured so Paddy McNair keeps his place at the back despite Tyler Blackett returning from suspension.
Everton are set to welcome several players back to the starting eleven after resting some key men on Thursday night.
Romelu Lukaku, James McCarthy and Steven Naismith should all return while Seamus Coleman is expected to start after recovering from a knock.
Steven Pienaar and Sylvain Distin are also in contention but may have to make do with places on the bench, but Kevin Mirallas and Ross Barkley remain unavailable.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Angel Di Maria: The Argentinean international has made an excellent start to life at United and was recently named as their player of the month for September, so he’ll be the player Everton will want to pay close attention to this weekend.
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-1 Everton: While United may have their problems at the back they are still a formidable force going forwards and I can see them having too much for Everton to handle.
