[Tweets & Photos] Rooney, Van Persie & More: Players React Online To United Win
Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Daley Blind and Ashley Young have all been reacting online to Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Southampton last night.
Manchester United moved up to third in the Premier League table after beating Southampton 2-1 at St Marys last night.
United weren’t at their best but Robin van Persie was the hero as his brace was enough to secure the three points, with the Dutchman’s goals coming either side of Graziano Pelle’s effort for the Saints midway through the first half.
After the game, some of the United players have been reacting to their latest win online. van Persie has taken to Twitter to celebrate a ‘massive’ three points and thank the away fans for their ‘amazing’ support, while injured midfielder Daley Blind also hailed an ‘important’ victory.
Wayne Rooney uploaded a photo to his Facebook page of him celebrating with his strike partner along with a message admitting that while it wasn’t the team’s best performance of the season, it was a ‘massive’ three points and the skipper also gave special mention to the travelling fans.
Ashley Young uploaded some images to his Instagram account with the winger also admitting that United weren’t at their best, while he also praised the ‘unreal’ United fans.
It’s understandable that the players were pleased as last night’s win was United’s fifth in succession and see’s Louis van Gaal’s men move into third spot in the table, just five points adrift of second-placed Manchester City.
