Midfielder Due In London To Sign 3-Year Contract & Complete ‘Dream’ Arsenal Move
Arsenal are set to complete their first January signing with a midfielder en route to London to sign a 3-year contract and seal his ‘dream’ move.
With the January transfer now open for business, managers are strengthening their squads ahead of the second half of the season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal close in on their first January signing….
Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Krystian Bielik after Legia Warsaw confirmed the midfielder has been given permission to fly to London to undergo a medical.
We’ve been strongly linked with the 17-year-old in recent weeks and reports earlier this week claimed that chief transfer negotiator Dick Law flew over to Poland to finally thrash out a deal having already had bids worth €1.5m and €2m rejected by Legia.
News filtered through on Wednesday that our third bid worth €3m (£2.3m) had been accepted and now Legia have confirmed on their website that they’ve given permission for Bielik to travel to London to conclude the move.
The young midfielder is due to arrive in England on Friday where he’ll finalise personal terms and undergo a medical, with reports suggesting he’ll sign a three-year contract with the Gunners.
Bielik told Legia’s website that he’s coming to London to fulfill his dreams and hopes to wrap-up the move soon:
“I am going to London to fulfil my dreams. I hope I will become an Arsenal player soon.”
Current Legia manager Henning Berg – the former Manchester United defender – told Sky Sports that Bielik is well ahead of other players in age group and the 6ft 2in midfielder already has a good understanding of the game.
“He’s a physical player with good skills. He has very good understanding of the game and match mentality. Krystian is quite far ahead of other players at his age.”
So it looks like we’re close to completing our first signing of the January window and Bielik certainly sounds like he’s a bright talent with a promising future ahead of him.
However, he isn’t the big-name signing many fans have been hoping for, and I’ll be a little concerned if he’s the only midfielder we bring in this month after Mikel Arteta was ruled out for three months.

Bielik isn’t going to be ready to play for a club like Arsenal just yet as he’s only made a handful of first team appearances for Legia, so it looks like Arsene is going to put a lot of faith in Francis Coquelin during the second half of the season if we don’t bring in a more experienced holding player before the end of the month.
