Chelsea vs Man City Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Chelsea take on Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score for the game
Chelsea take on Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues warmed up for the game with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in midweek so they’ll be looking to bounce back against City.
Guus Hiddink has certainly steadied the ship since coming in to replace Jose Mourinho as interim coach and he’s vowed to take the FA Cup seriously as it’s a realistic target to salvage something from what’s been a hugely disappointing season for the Blues.
Chelsea booked their place in the fifth round having beaten Scunthorpe and MK Dons but they’ll face a much sterner test in Manchester City this weekend.
The Citizens have seen-off Norwich City and Aston Villa en route to this stage but Manuel Pellegrini is set to field a weakened side as he’s got one eye on Wednesday’s huge Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev.

Team News
John Terry has been ruled out once again as the Chelsea skipper is still nursing a hamstring injury that he sustained during last weekend’s 5-1 win over Newcastle United.
With Kurt Zouma out for the season with a knee injury, Branislav Ivanovic is set to continue alongside Gary Cahill at the back with Baba Rahman filling-in at left-back.
Nemanja Matic is back from a European ban while Ruben Loftus-Cheek could get a run-out in midfield with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard rested.
As for City, they have plenty of injury problems to contend with as Wilfried Bony is still working his way back to full fitness following a calf injury so he joins Eliaquin Mangala, Fabien Delph, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas and Kevin De Bruyne on the sidelines.
Bacary Sagna is back in training after recovering from a knee injury while Pellegrini is set to give some his youngsters a chance to impress with the likes of Bersant Celina, Manuel Garcia Alonso and Kelechi Iheanacho all pushing for starts.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Chelsea 2-0 Man City: The Blues have regained some form lately and with City set to rest their key men, I fancy the home side to win this one. This is Chelsea’s only realistic chance of a trophy this season and I can see them easing in to the next round with a 2-0 win.
Betting Tips
Chelsea are the 4/5 favourites to win the game but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 7/1 on a home win or 8/1 on a City win – just click here to take advantage of these crazy odds. My prediction of 2-0 is on offer at 8/1 while I also like the look of Pedro to open the scoring at 17/2. If you combined those two bets in a score-cast then we get very tempting odds of 40/1.
