[Video Goals] Roma 3-0 Chelsea: El Shaarawy Hits Double To Sink Blues

Chelsea dropped down to second place in Champions League Group C after being thrashed 3-0 by AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico this evening.

It was a nightmare start for the Premier League champions as Roma opened the scoring in the first minute with Stephan El Shaarawy slammed home a superb effort from the edge of the area for 1-0.

Roma continued to press and they doubled their lead when some poor defending allowed El Shaarawy to ghost in and poke home for his second of the game to make it 2-0 in the 36th minute.

There was worse to come for Chelsea as a sloppy ball from Cesc Fabregas gifted possession to Diego Perotti and the attacker beat Thibaut Courtois at the near post to make it 3-0 in the 63rd minute.

Roma eased to victory to leapfrog Chelsea and go one point clear at the top of the table but the good news for Antonio Conte’s side is that Atletico Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Qarabag so the Blues are still four points clear in second.
