Diogo Dalot was among a 22-man squad that has flew-out to Switzerland this morning ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League opener with BSC Young Boys.
United have been handed a tricky group after being pitted in Group H along with Italian giants Juventus, La Liga outfit Valencia and Swiss minnows Young Boys so Jose Mourinho will be keen to bring home a positive result tomorrow night.
The Portuguese coach is expected to rotate his starting eleven following Saturday’s hard fought win at Watford and Dalot will be hoping to make his first team debut at the Stade de Suisse. The 19-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the senior side since joining from Porto in the summer as he’s only just returned from a knee injury but has travelled to Switzerland today after a couple of outings for the U23’s.
Luke Shaw is also back in the squad after missing the trip to Vicarage Road at the weekend having been concussed while playing for England during the international break.
Striker Marcus Rashford should be involved against Young Boys as he’s currently serving a three-match Premier League ban but there was no sign of Antonio Valencia or Jesse Lingard at Manchester Airport today so it looks like the duo have been rested.
Phil Jones was also missing as the centre-back continues to recover from a hamstring injury while Marcos Rojo wasn’t among the players spotted at the airport this morning as he’s still working his way back to full fitness.
According to the Manchester Evening News, this was the 22-man squad that flew-out today:
De Gea, Romero, Grant; Young, Smalling, Shaw, Bailly, Dalot, Darmian, Lindelof; Pogba, Fellaini, Mata, Herrera, A.Pereira, Fred, McTominay, Matic; Lukaku, Martial, Rashford, Sanchez.
