Tottenham Confirm Major Injury Boost Ahead Of Man City Clash But Duo Remain Out
Tottenham have confirmed a major injury boost ahead of their clash with Manchester City but two other players have been ruled out.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to make a statement of intent in the title race when they entertain Manchester City at Wembley on Monday night.
Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of the game and the club have issued a team news and injury update including the latest on Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose.
Alli hasn’t featured in the first team for Spurs since September due to a niggling hamstring injury that’s kept him out for the last seven matches in all competitions. However, the attacking midfielder has been working on his fitness in recent weeks and he’s now been declared fit and available for selection to face City on Monday.
The news will come as a huge boost to Pochettino as Alli has been sorely missed in recent weeks and his return will give the north Londoners another option in midfield and comes aafter Christian Eriksen made a successful return to action last week.
However, Tottenham will have to make-do without Rose once again. The full-back had hoped to make his return from a groin injury against City but the club have confirmed he’s still unavailable so Ben Davies will continue in defence.
Pochettino is also without key centre-back Vertonghen as the Belgian international isn’t expected to overcome his hamstring issue until December so Davinson Sanchez should continue alongside Toby Alderweireld in the middle of the back four.

Tottenham head in to the weekend action sitting fifth in the Premier League table but they’re just two points adrift of leaders City so Pochettino’s men can climb above the defending champions with a win on Monday.
