Tottenham vs Man City Preview | Latest Team News | Expected Line-Ups | Prediction
Here is our match preview ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Manchester City including team news, expected line-ups and predicted score
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to make a statement of intent in the title race when they entertain Manchester City at Wembley this evening.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be looking to bounce back following their disappointing 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last week which has left their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages hanging in the balance.
However, it’s domestic matters at hand today as Spurs head in to the game sitting fifth in the Premier League table but they can climb up to third – level on points with second-placed Chelsea – with a win and move to within just two points of leaders Liverpool.
But Tottenham will obviously have their work cut out against the defending champions and City will be keen to move back to the top of the table with a win after dropping to third following victories for Liverpool and Chelsea over the weekend.
Team news
Spurs will welcome Dele Alli back in to the squad after he recovered from a hamstring injury that’s kept him out for the last month but Pochettino may be reluctant to throw him in from the start tonight.
Danny Rose continues to miss out with a groin injury and Jan Vertonghen is still nursing a hamstring complaint but the likes of Serge Aurier, Harry Winks and Erik Lamela are pushing for recalls if the Spurs boss wants to freshen things up.
City will hand a late fitness test to Ilkay Gundogan as he’s struggling with a hamstring injury while Fabian Delph is also a doubt with a knee problem. Danilo is set to miss out with an ankle knock while Claudio Bravo remains out with a long-term Achilles injury.
Expected Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham 1-2 Man City: I’m expecting an exciting game this evening between two teams who like to play football. Spurs aren’t firing on all cylinders but they’re still grinding out results and I think they’ll give City a stern test. However, Pep Guardiola’s side look formidable once again this season and I think they’ll have that little bit too much quality for Tottenham tonight.
