Liverpool take on Manchester City in a titanic clash at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Here is the team we expect Jurgen Klopp to select for the game:
Goalkeeper: There is no point deliberating for too long over who will start in goal as Alisson Becker is certain to keep his place with Adrian having to settle for a place on the bench.
Defence: Liverpool are expected to make a couple of changes in defence. Andrew Robertson will be recalled at left-back after being rested for the Champions League win over Genk in midweek so James Milner will make way.
Joel Matip remains out with a knee injury so Dejan Lovren is set for a recall with Joe Gomez dropping out. Virgil van Dijk missed training on Thursday but Klopp eased fears over his fitness as the defender was simply back in Holland receiving an award from the King and Queen so he’s fit to start at the back for Liverpool on Sunday.
Midfield: Liverpool have also been handed a big boost in midfield as skipper Jordan Henderson is fit to return to the side after missing the win over Genk on Tuesday night due to illness.
Naby Keita is the man most likely to drop out against City as Gini Wijnaldum should keep his place in midfield while Fabinho is certain to start in the holding role as he’s been outstanding for Liverpool this season.
Attack: Klopp is expected to make a couple of changes in attack with two of his key players recalled for this huge game. Sadio Mane will come back into the side after being rested against Genk so Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to drop out despite putting in another impressive goal-scoring performance in the Champions League last time out.
Roberto Firmino is also due a recall after starting on the bench in midweek so Divock Origi will make way while Mohamed Salah will keep his place on the right side of the Liverpool attack.
Xherdan Shaqiri remains out with a calf problem but the likes of Origi, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Curtis Jones will be options from the bench for Liverpool against Man City this weekend.
Here is how I think Liverpool will line up:
