Spurs Lead Race For International Striker
By Football-Talk.
Tottenham Hotspur could be set to snap up Italian international Vincenzo Iaquinta after his agent claimed the London club were interested in bringing the striker to White Hart Lane this summer. The 30-year-old is currently with Juventus but looks set to leave Turin after the World Cup. Iaquinta struggled with a knee injury last season, but returned to score 7 goals in 18 games, which was enough to make it into Italy’s final 23-man World Cup squad.
Now the striker will be hoping an impressive World Cup could lead to a big-money move, although according to his agent there are already a host of admirers, including Tottenham who are looking to bolster their front-line ahead of life in the Champions League next season.
D’Amico told Tuttomercatoweb: “For Iaquinta, the English club Tottenham have showed up again, along with other teams.”
Andrea D’Amico is also quoted in The Sun as saying:
“He could be making a new life for himself in England with Tottenham.”
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is wanting to re-shuffle his strike force with Robbie Keane and Roman Pavyluchenko recently linked with permanent moves away from the club, Redknapp will soon be on the look-out for replacements and the experienced Iaquinta could be just what he is looking for.
