Tottenham vs Man Utd Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Tottenham welcome Manchester United to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon. Here is a preview with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score for the game.
Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester United to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon looking to complete a rare double over the league leaders.
Spurs inflicted a 3-2 defeat over United in the reverse fixture back in September so Sir Alex Ferguson will be out for revenge this weekend.
United’s lead at the top was cut to just four points after second-placed Man City beat Fulham 2-0 on Saturday so Ferguson will be keen to restore their seven point advantage by making it five wins on the bounce on Sunday.
However, Tottenham head into the game in fine form themselves and are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions, but were left disappointed by last weekends 0-0 draw at Queens Park Rangers.
Despite the stalemate at Loftus Road, Spurs remain three points clear in fourth-place and can move into third with a win if Chelsea drop points at home to Arsenal in Sunday’s earlier kick off.
Team News
Tottenham will be without influential midfielder Sandro after the Brazilian was ruled out for the season with a knee injury. Fit again Scott Parker is expected to come straight back in to the starting eleven in his place.
Emmanuel Adebayor is away on international duty at the African Cup of Nations so Clint Dempsey is likely to support Jermaine Defoe up top. Youness Kaboul and Willian Gallas remain on the sidelines.
Manchester United will be without Jonny Evans for the game after he was ruled out with a hamstring problem, so Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are expected to start at the back.
Wayne Rooney made a goal-scoring return in midweek and is likely to retain his place alongside Robin Van Persie up front. Ashley Young is set to miss the game after picking up a knee injury during last weekends 2-1 win over Liverpool.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Tottenhams win earlier in the season was their first in 22 attempts against United and the Red Devils have an excellent recent record at the Lane, winning eight and losing none of their last 11 league matches their.
However, the Londoners are proving to be tough opposition at home this season and have lost just one of their ten league matches at the Lane this season, so we can see AVB’s men taking something from the game on Sunday. Tottenham 1-1 Man Utd
