Manchester United are in the capital this weekend to face Fulham at Craven Cottage in Saturday’s evening kick off looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.

United restored their seven-point advantage over second-placed Manchester City with a 2-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday night but can extend their lead to 10 and put the pressure on City as the champions don’t play until Sunday when they welcome Liverpool to the Etihad. Sir Alex Ferguson will head into the game full of confidence after watching his side secure a comfortable 4-1 win over the Cottagers in the FA Cup last weekend, and will be hoping to do a league double over Martin Jol’s men after a 3-2 win at Old Trafford back in August.

Ferguson has confirmed on ManUtd.com that he’s likely to make some changes for the game with defender Rio Ferdinand expected to come in. Jonny Evans is also back in contention after returning to training on Friday and may renew his partnership with Ferdinand at the back.

However, Ashley Young remains on the sidelines with a knee injury. Otherwise, United have a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Fulham have received a blow with the news that top scorer Dimitar Berbatov will miss the chance to play against his former side after picking up a hamstring problem in midweek. Hugo Rodallega is expected to replace the Bulgarian.

On-loan Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong may make his debut with Steven Sidwell ruled out while Urby Emanuelson is also in contention after securing a loan move from AC Milan on Friday.

But fellow deadline-day signings Eyong Enoh and Stanislav Manolevare not in the squad as they await confirmation of their work permits.
