Manchester United Announce Official 22-Man Squad To Face Real Madrid
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has named a 22-man squad for the trip to Spain to face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has named a 22-man squad for the trip to Spain to face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Ferguson has named defenders Phil Jones and Jonny Evans in the strong squad despite both players being forced off with injuries during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford.
Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is back in contention after missing the last two games through injury but is expected to be among the substitutes with David De Gea continuing between the sticks.
Winger Ashley Young also returns to the squad for the first time since last month’s win over Liverpool and Fergie must decide whether to throw him straight back into action or keep him in reserve on the bench. The only notable name missing is midfielder Paul Scholes who’s been ruled out with a knee injury.
Here is the official 22-man squad announced on ManUtd.com on Tuesday afternoon:
Goalkeepers
De Gea, Lindegaard.

Büttner, Evans, Evra, Ferdinand, Jones, Rafael, Smalling, Vidic.
Midfielders
