Manchester United are in the capital to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon looking to close the gap on the top four.
The Red Devils head into the weekend action sitting eighth in the Premier League table and a full eight points off leaders Arsenal, so will need to keep up the momentum and secure another win this weekend if they want to reclaim their title.
Following a late draw at home to Southampton, United have recorded three wins on the bounce including a 3-2 win over Stoke last weekend, where they were forced to come from behind twice at Old Trafford.
David Moyes is slowly finding the consistency he’s looking for with his side now unbeaten in seven games and eased into the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup with a 4-0 win over Norwich on Tuesday so they should be heading to London full of confidence.
Fulham on the other hand are looking to bounce back after a disappointing midweek Cup exit at the hands of Leicester which followed a 2-0 loss to Southampton last weekend.
Team News
Martin Jol will have to make do without the services of captain Brede Hangeland who continues to be out with a leg injury. He’s joined on the sidelines by striker Hugo Rodallega who is facing several weeks out after tearing his adductor last week.
Defender Aaron Hughes is pushing for a recall but Matthew Briggs remains out with a hernia.
United have been boosted with the news that Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand came through Tuesday’s win over Norwich unscathed and are in contention to start this weekend.
Striker Robin van Persie was rested in midweek to nurse a niggling groin injury but is expected to start tomorrow alongside Wayne Rooney up front, but Danny Welbeck is out with a knee problem.
Moyes is expected to make several changes to his starting eleven with several first team names likely to be recalled after being rested in midweek.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Wayne Rooney: The striker is getting back to something like his best form and it’s going to be important for Fulham to stop him finding space behind RVP if they want to take anything from the game.
Predicted Score
Fulham 1-2 Man Utd: Fulham have been surprisingly poor at home this season and United have been finding more consistency of late, so I can see the champions edging this one.
