Manchester United edged past Crystal Palace 1-0 at Old Trafford thanks to a second half deflected strike from substitute Juan Mata.
After a disappointing goalless opening forty-five minutes, United finally found the breakthrough in the 67th minute when Mata let fly with his left-foot from outside the area with his effort taking a slight deflection to find its way past Speroni in goal.
The Palace keeper may have felt he could have kept it out and his disappointment will have been heightened as it turned out to be the winner with the Londoners unable to find way back in to the game.
The victory sees United move up to sixth in the Premier League table and just two points off fourth-placed West Ham.
