Arsene Wenger Offers Alexis Sanchez Injury Update

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez is likely to miss this weekends FA Cup clash against Middlesbrough with a knee injury.
The Chilean international suffered a knock to his left knee during the first half of our 2-1 victory over Leicester City on Tuesday night after a heavy challenge from Matthew Upson.
Sanchez carried on after receiving treatment on the sidelines but continued to struggle and it was a surprise to see him emerge from the tunnel after half time, with Wenger later revealing that the attacker insisted he was fit to play despite the managers reservations.
However, the 26-year-old was eventually substituted midway through the second half with the knee problem clearly inhibiting his performance, and there were fears he could have made the injury worse by carrying on.
Thankfully the injury is only minor but Arsene has confirmed at his pre-match press conference this morning that Sanchez is ‘likely to be short’ for Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Middlesbrough at the Emirates.
There’s certainly no reason to risk Sanchez so I hope we give him a complete rest this weekend and only bring him back for the Crystal Palace gave next Saturday if he’s 100% fit. We’ve got plenty of huge games coming up and we need our best player firing on all cylinders.
As expected, Aaron Ramsey will also be out with a hamstring injury but Jack Wilshere could be back in the squad after returning to full training.
