[Player Ratings] Arsenal 2-0 Boro: Ozil Masterclass Helps Gunners Into Last 8

A brace from Olivier Giroud and a virtuoso performance form Mesut Ozil helped Arsenal to a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough this afternoon and into the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

Here are my ratings:

Szczesny  6/10 | A virtual bystander for most of the game.

Chambers  7/10 | Solid in defence and got forward to help out in attack too. Looked fresh.

Gabriel  7/10 | A very encouraging debut from the tough Brazilian. Looked good in the air and made a couple of excellent tackles. Booked.

Koscielny  7/10 | An easy afternoons work for the Frenchman. Dealt with the visitors attack comfortably.

Gibbs  7.5/10 | Back in the side and was excellent all game. Made some superb challenges to break up play and was always bombing forward. Set up the opener.

Flamini  7/10 | A solid shift. Went about his business to break up play efficiently and without fuss.

Cazorla  8.5/10 | Another excellent performance. Linked up wonderfully with his team mates and along with Ozil, controlled the match from the middle of the pitch.

Welbeck  6.5/10 | A frustrating game. Got himself into some promising positions but either the ball wouldn’t drop for him or he’d produce a poor final ball.

Ozil  9/10 | Total masterclass from the German. Played centrally and ran the game. Created 7 goal-scoring opportunities for his team mates. Unfortunately he didn’t pick up any assists or goals but was the key player today.

Alexis  8/10 | No sign of his knee injury as he ran himself into the ground again. Went close to scoring a couple of times and set-up Giroud’s second with a well taken corner.

Giroud  8/10 | Clinical finish for the first but his second goal was a beauty. Not always praised but plays an important role in this team.

Subs:

Walcott 5/10 | Wasted a great chance to make it 3-0 late on but saw his shot well saved.

Rosicky 6/10 | Produced one moment of magic to release Theo.
